The Poop on Interoception

Can your son tell he has to go? My son doesn't seem to be able to recognize the feeling that he needs to go, but he'll pee if I take him to the bathroom at appropriate intervals. Poo is a whole other story... but I'm hoping that it's early yet.

I had never heard of that! He's afraid he won't get to the potty in time to poop and when he was peeing it was only because I used a timer religiously. I can count the times he said he had to go on his own on my fingers. He does hide to poop sometimes, so I'm pretty sure he's aware it's happening, but I have no idea how much warning he has.

He's been on the Miralax for over a year, probably close to two years now. Lowering the dose and adding probiotics does seem to be making a slight difference, so maybe it will work itself out.

I'm going to bring this up to both his pediatrician and his OT. Thank you so much!
