My son is 5 yrs old and going into 1st grade. He started K at 4 at a private G&T school, but I was very disappointed in what was taught, and feel he missed a lot of what K's learn.(Found out in Feb. no one was teaching reading, due to lack of communication....) This year he will be at a Magnet School for G&T.
He doesn't know how to read, I know he is gifted, he has been tested and is a member of MENSA...but he refuses to read, we can get him to a little but it's always a battle. IDK how to make it fun for him, and I am so concerned he is behind entering 1st grade.
Where are MOST kids for reading and writing ENTERING 1st grade? What's the norm?
