DS was just 12 and in 6th grade when he took the ACT. Our talent search lets kids take the ACT in 6th, but not everyone does. Dottie is right, though, a kid can take them at any age; you just need the forms and the photo ID.

If you are interested in how your child would do, you can get a copy of "The REAL ACT" which has 3 ACT tests from previous years. We had DS take one of those before we signed him up. If he hadn't done well on the practice, we never would have signed him up since we wanted this to be fun and not frustrating. And if you are just doing it for your own purposes, then there is no need to sign them up for the real test at all!
