We are trying to get our DS11 into Advanced Math, but the teacher is making him jump through hoops. She says that she is unfamiliar with the WIAT-II test which DS had taken - not through his school, but through a private child psychologist. His composite Math is 98%. She says she can't use the WIAT-II Math scores because they may not be up to our state's Math standards.

I would assume any reputable standardized test such as the WIAT-II would be more than adequate to cover any state standards.

Does anyone have any thoughts or information about this?

Thanks, Dottie. That information helps a lot. My DS has 100% on all work in regular Math and his regular Math teacher recommended him for Advanced Math, but the Advanced Math teacher won't budge. She likes to quote his scores from a 3-year-old Iowa test I gave him when I was homeschooling him.

But I need accurate information to advocate for him!

    Thanks again!!
