Ha! Yeah, we just got a sign-up sheet for pee-wee wrestling for preschool and up -- I can imagine how that conversation might go if they thought wrestling caused babies! smile

Neither DD4 nor DS8 have asked any questions of that sort yet, thank goodness!

DD4 has penis envy, though -- she accidentally had one made of bubbles in the bath a while back, and now every bath she has to do it on purpose and giggle about "having a pee-pee"!

    lol love these stories!

Well, in our case, the man who got me pregnant is a doctor in another state. DD knows she was a frozen embryo while I had my boo-boos (cancer) taken care of - she's met all kinds of doctors who helped make her happen.

She also knows DS is adopted, so he grew in another person's belly, but she can't figure out how he has another "birth" father.

The problem in our household is we've let her know too much! crazy Although why is reproduction such a big secret?

Thanks to having a short haired male dog, DD has always known boys have a pe nis. She has no problem with anatomy.

I also err on the side of glamorizing reproductive parts, because it's so easy for girls to grow up feeling shame about their private areas. "We keep this area private because it's so special: this is where babies are made and only women can build a baby inside."

Tex, when DD lifts up my shirt and says, My what a big tummy! I smile and say, Yes, isn't that fabulous? Let's look at yours. One time, DD insisted we sit down mid way through dressing, in just our underwear. I said, "I feel self conscious." DD said, What does that mean? I said, "Self conscious means I am worried that if someone looks at me they will think I look bad." DD said, Mama, I look at you and all I see is that you are so beautiful. I think of that every time I get dressed now. smile

Thanks, and what a wonderful story seablue that you have been blessed to have lovely children! I want my kids to know the truth about many things in the world. I just don't want them knowing about behaviors they might want to act out quite innocently. I'm very happy for your good fortune.

DD asked at 3 and ende dup getting the entire details because that's what she needed. I was pregnant at the time, so there you are. I didn't find it bad, but then when a lesbian couple we're close to had a baby, boy, did that ever confuse her! I did find the "Well, another man made the sperm come out into a cup and they put it inside her..." "But how did he make it come out? Why did it come out when he wasn't making a baby?" conversation slightly more mortifying.
