Dd12 will be traveling to do her open water scuba certification and we are trying to find something for dd10 as a comparable activity. I'm considering some of the summer camps for gifted youth wondering if we might find something that would increase her self esteem and maybe reignite an interest in learning.

We don't want a program that looks like our local TAG programming: high pressure, competitive, academic work with a large percentage of kids in it who are not, technically, gifted. SIG looks interesting b/c, in addition to the academic classes, they have classes like fencing and mock trial. However, even if we got some financial aid, I just don't know that we could swing the cost.

Yunasa is another one that appears interesting. Does anyone have any experience with some of these programs, preferably not the $4-5K ones?

It is not a gifted youth program, but Concordia Language Villages might fit the bill. A 1-2 week camp. My kids attended for French and Finnish, and it waa a nice mix of language immersion and just fun camp stuff.
