I have just received the raw scores for my 6 yr old twins WISC IV test

    Twin 1
    VC 46
    PR 46
    WM 31
    PS 27
    FS 150
    FSIQ >138

    Twin 2
    VC 43
    PR 47
    WM 30
    PS 27
    FS 147
    FSIQ >135

I have a few questions if anyone has the time. Firstly I am 100% sure the addition of scores has an error and twin 2's PS should be 31 resulting in a FS 151--> can anyone tell me what this would then make her FSIQ? Also what would both twins GAI be and how do you calculate that? lastly anyone else have fraternal twins with such similar profiles?

    Thanks in advance

Dottie will probably chime in here in a bit with your answer re the FSIQ, but I can help with the GAIs in the meantime since the change in the PSI won't impact calculating the GAI. GAI looks only at VCI and PRI.

For twin#1, the GAI would be 139 and for twin#2, the GAI would be 136. The WISC technical report #4, which is what one uses to calculate the GAI, is available online: http://www.ksde.org/Portals/0/Special%20Education%20Services/gifted/WISCIVTechReport4.pdf

thank you for such a quick reply--> I had found that article online but my brain is in such a spin with this news today that I couldnt even work out how to use it.

If anyone can tell me twin 2's revised FSIQ that would be awesome (I have this sinking feeling it is going to come out as 138 and we will have identical IQ's--> just a bit too freaky for me given there is some doubt whether they are fraternal or identical twins)

    thanks again

As a twin who knows both mine and my twin's scores, having the same score would be a good thing in my book. My twin's was not the same as mine, most likely due to some mild LD, and I know that my twin thought he was not as smart as I was. Of course, we didn't actually know our IQ (WISC?) scores until college, so his ideas of who was smarter were based on school performance. And here I would suggest that you may not want to give your twins their scores since, even though they tested equally, they will each have their own strengths and relative weaknesses and they each have their own personalities that will affect things like schooling. That being said, I always find it interesting to see how twins compare on measures such as this, whether they are fraternal or identical.

Those look like good solid scores!

we certainly don't plan on telling the girls, well not any time soon, the more I think about it the equal scores are a good thing but they are so so so not alike at all and yet they keep going through life doing everything the same (they even both dead heated in their first ever running race recently, one is short and a powerhouse and the other is thin and lanky yet go figure they cross the finish line together!). I guess I was really hoping these results would allow me to talk objectively to their teacher about their relative strengths and weaknesses and for her to stop seeing them as so alike (not sure how I am going to do that!). Their personalities are amazingly different one is shy, driven, dedicated, perfectionist the other seems to ride her twins coat tails and breeze through life effortlessly with as little thought, as much fun and by following the least amount of rules (or so it all seemed)

like you, I do find twins studies of any sort an interesting read. I'd love to hear about any or gifted twins
