Same here. I saw your blog intro through my FB links, and it is such a great project! I'm just about to land back into crazyland with HS starting up again in less than 2 weeks. What is your timeline?

    Shari,

Would you be interested in the frustrations of a gifted ex-child? I was definitely not well-served by the system(s) I was in, even when accommodations were made. I can look back now and see things that were tried that still weren't enough and draw conclusions about how it's shaped my life.

At this point I can't comment much on the frustrations of raising our dd, since everything's worked out well so far (and she may not hit the PG range you're looking for).

    MoN,

Have you ever read the book "Horton hears a who?" Don't you ever have the feeling that you do in fact live in Whoville? Gifted kids in this country have about the same signifigance as that speck of dust. Leaning towards the "unknown species". The reality is that people have not one clue what it's like to live with a PG kid.

How many times has someone said to you "You're sooo lucky!" When people take the time to think about our kids at all, they think about the kid paraded onto the stage for Oprah. On rare occasion they see an article in the paper about a 14 year old college grad. You'll never see an article in the local paper about OE's or asynchronisity. They don't talk about any of it. "Smart is Easy, amazing and wonderful 24/7".

I want to paint a picture of what life is really like. The good parts and the bad parts. The amazement and the terror. Give me one specific event that you feel will help people understand. Or a general overview of everyday life. If everyone gives me a piece, just like a puzzle it will make a picture. Hopefully a realistic picture.

    Neato,

If you had five minutes to make the world understand your kid, what would you say? Write it down....Simple
