I found hoagies not to be of much help in this vein. There are many websites that try to sift through medical practices and present them on a webscreen for browsing. These are mostly automated sites and for real info they are quite lousy but they do a decent job of at least gathering names and contact info. Just use google with the keywords "Cognitive testing" and mybe your state and you should get general list of sites with the basic info. Then it's a matter of calling around.

We've found a site locally that will administer the IQ portion with no assement, just the raw scores, for $450. I anticipate the results will aid me in determining the direction I take for future tests, enrichment etc.

    Good luck!

I also looked into Dr. Silverman's clinic. They would not give me a quote for IQ and achievement testing over the phone. They wanted me to come in for a consultation at $125/hour and charge me for reading the extensive background material that they request. They said that depending on need, the cost could be from $1000 to $3000. I'm sure that they do a thorough job but I couldn't afford that level of uncertainty.

Instead, I called our district's gt department and asked who else wrote good reports (they couldn't give me a recommendation per se but we talked around the issue). We had WISC IV and WJIII done for about $400. We had some issues around application of extended norms but mostly got what we needed.

Knute, if you don't mind, would you pm me with your tester if you felt that s/he was good with gifted kids? I don't know that we intend to do more testing at this time, but if we do in the future it would be good to have more CO options. I probably wouldn't go with the GDC again after our last interaction there and the person who tested dd9 did a good enough job, but I'm not sure that it was the best pick either.
