The latest is that this has all blown up, with a meeting tomorrow because we expressed, quite forcefully , that we were unhappy tha our bullying issue was handled so insnsitively and we instead had to face accusations regarding little'uns behaviour.

I have just spent a whole day and a sleepless night trying to write a reply to the headmistresses letter that won't damage her fragile ego. She herself has passed a copy of her letter to her boss - so I really have no choice but reply so it all goes on file.

I can't believe how this has blown up - can't wait until tomorrow's a.m. meet and I don't know how it will all turn out. Little'un wants to stay at the school as he is basically hapy, but if this is the way they are perceiving/addressing him it may be better to cut & run. Thing is he has 1 year to go until seniors and this school is really good on the subjects that most interest him!

Aaaaaaargh! or should that be Grrrrrrrr!

My DD was bullied in pre-school and she did not protect herself. We enrolled as a family in Martial arts and the bullying stopped almost immediately. She learned a few blocks and I think she just carried herself more confidently. She has been a bit like hermoine in class specially in the bad fit school. I think sometimes it is a way to deal with the bordeom. So she was attempted to be picked on and she just took on her martial arts atitude and they left her alone. She's never actually had to use it but we started young and I think she carried it into school with her. It worked for us and the whole family got exercise as most of the schools put ability together rather than age...unlike school!

Wow! Raddy, your mention of the suicidal bully are freaking me out - if the school and more importantly that boy's parents aren't informed of this or taking it seriously, I could see this being the source of misbehavior for that guy. Your son should not be responsible for taking the brunt of him working out his grief, frustration and obvious loneliness despite being surrounded by 'friends'. Sounds like he even sees something worthy in your son, despite putting him on the spot and worse (did he actually beat him up?) I hope your meeting went well but it sounds like it will be difficult.

... It would be interesting (and probably impossible) to find out whether the school has recommended counseling for the other young man/his family, but to me seems like a more effective angle to take.
