Have a question, my DD9 took the SCAT on the 28th, kinda nervous to get back the results but I know it will take up to 3 weeks to get them back.

Have any other children out there just raced through that exam? I think she was in for the 1st half of the exam which only lasted 10-20min before she came out. I was startled and asked her what was wrong but the woman administering the test said she was done with half the test already. She flew through the 2nd half just as fast.

I know its up to each individual child but wondering if any other child has done well if they were fast test takers.

We had the same thing happen--don't worry...I think it's pretty common. My guys did well even with the rush and your daughter probably will too.

You can see the scores on-line. If you call them they will give you a login id and password over the phone.

Thats so funny cause DD did the exact same thing, she thought she did really bad when she came out. I just told her that most people probably feel that way and not to worry. I'll call the number and see how she did.

My son 7 took the SCAT Saturday. The results were online yesterday. To our surprise he made the verbal cut but NOT the math. Never would have guess that. He rushed through the VERBAL but did not finish the math. So I guess rushing isn't always a bad thing.

Well ok, I got the scores but read through the explainations they provided on the website but still don't understand.

Under qualifications levels, Math said not/no longer qualified

    then under test code-SCAT
    grade 3
    test form ey1
test norm 5S (not understanding this one)
    verb raw 40
    verb scaled 446
    verb percentile 83
    quant raw 28
    quant scaled 431
    quant percentile 35

can anyone help me find out what this means?

I have this year's score interpretation guide in front of me. The raw scores are the number of correct answers out of 50 questions (there are five experimental questions that don't count).

Your DD got 40 out of 50 for verbal. According to the information that you posted that falls in the 83rd percentile for the norming group of regular 5th graders. In looking at the score interpretation guide (which shows how your DD compares to other talent search kids in her own grade), her score is about one standard deviation above the mean for 3rd grade girls in the talent search. I can't recall what percentile that would be, but I'm sure that someone else can fill you in on that.

For Math, your DD got 28 out of 50 correct, a score that would be in the 35th percentile compared to regular 5th graders. Her score here is about one standard deviation below the mean for other 3rd grade girl talent search participants. Again, someone else will hopefully chime in with what percentile that should be.

I don't have the qualification levels in front of me, but it sounds like your DD qualified for CTY classes in verbal subjects, but not in math.

I heard there is a 3 point grace for the online classes. Is that true? I haven't called yet but a teacher from CTY told me that my son does qualify for the online for math because of a 3 point grace? He would not qualify for the summer program.
