We are considering relocating to the Chicago area- probably the western Suburbs. Does anyone have any insight on public and private GT programs in that area? My daughter currently attends a private gifted school in Michigan that I LOVE! The school panic is almost enough to keep me from moving!

Naperville is on the top 10 list of public schools and I'm told they have a fantastic gifted program. As far as private schools, Montessori is often noted as being a great school for children whether gifted or not though it only goes through the 8th grade. If you peruse the internet for gifted programs or schools in the Chicago area you will find various options.

I wish you the best of luck! I understand how you feel...we all want the best resources for our children!

Illinois Math & Science Academy is very highly regarded and is in Aurora. I don't know what grades you're looking for, though; I think IMSA may only be high school.

I am pretty sure Illinois Math & Science Academy is for 10th - 12th grades.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I have been shocked at the lack of options for an area as big as Metro Chicago. The private schools that are geared toward the gifted have not impressed me. I have talked to a couple of public school programs (Hinsdale and Naperville) that look promising. As I mentioned, I love her current school and the bar is set very high.
