Can anyone point me in the direction of up to date studies on leveling - I am trying to get a solid understanding of the perimeters of the debate, the language (is there any agreement on what the terms leveling, tracking, grouping, etc. mean), the pros and cons. I guess I am looking for a generally unbiased metastudy or summary. I've looked at some of the critiques of Oake's book, but feel like there must be more out there.

Our district is looking at this issue right now, and I want to be a strong proponent for what is best for all students (but would sure like to know where what is best for some conflicts with what is good for HG+ students) and thus would like to become well versed in the literature.

    Guidance appreciated. Cat

I really like the overview articles on grouping in
Grouping and Acceleration Practices in Gifted Education (Essential Readings in Gifted Education Series) by Linda E. Brody and Sally M. Reis (Paperback - Mar. 6, 2004)
