Thank you Grinity for the welcome and the great info.

I am the DW and I was very interested in HSing some years ago but DH is very against it and I have to admit that I am not confident in myself when it comes to educating my own kids, so he won on that one.

The highly gifted child actually does well in school and does not have the aversion to it that some of us in the house do.

I have done some reading on HSing and unschooling, but will continue to research, as it has been a while since I was considering it.

Is there a benefit to further evaluation? Should I get IQ testing? Does it really make a difference?

Hey Dace - sorry about the gender thing! Somehow when I read the above I though I heard paternal love talking.

But this does put an interesting spin on things, now doesn't it? I'm going to suggest that you are going to have to set the example of how to be female, how to avoid letting others (including DHs) make decisions for you, and how to trust your mind to think independently.

Since you have already 'taken the first step' it sounds to me like you are on your way!

By all means, get the whole private testing, even if you have to put on your big girl panties to write that check. Having someone impartial that you can trust will help you 'be strong and independent' - call up the state gifted association, tell them what you told us, and ask for some reccomendations of testers who have seen scores similar to your daughter's.
