I know there are probably some threads about with these sorts of things but I'm lazy...

I thought it would be great to have some ideas of freely available curricula that are interesting and at least mildly challenging! I would appreciate any additions anyone would like to make.

    Maths:

This sis great for activities that can be tailored to the level your child is at. I've used it successfully in classes with children from 5-11 years old.

    Science:

Set out in stages, starts with real science quite early. A recent find I haven't yet used much, but looks good.

There are some less challenging stuff here, but some of it is quite good.

    http://www.mathfactcafe.com/default.aspx
(We used this site to generate basic math worksheets. The money and time worksheets are great because the site offers lots of flexibility.)

    http://www.superkids.com/aweb/tools/
(We used this site to generate basic math worksheets. It offers some slightly different changeable parameters than mathcafe.com. It also has a few games and vocabularies for SAT that we have not used yet.)

    http://www.mathplayground.com/
(This is a cute website with lots of math games.)

    http://www.softschools.com/
(We originally found this website to generate simple word problems and realized that it offers games in other subjects such as science and social studies.)

    Enjoy! grin

This site covers a multitude of elementary subjects. There are games for all sorts of things. The geography portion is the most extensive I've found on a free site.

This is a really fun site that offers a TON of educational games in multitude of subjects. The kids enjoy it, but I secretly enjoy toodling around as well. It's like building Legos and eating Halloween candy when the kids go to bed.

    www.internet4classrooms.com
http://www.internet4classrooms.com/grade_level_help.htm (<<We use this a lot, put your curser over the purple grade skill levels on left, then put it over current standards and you can get indUvidual subjects, and when you click on A SUBJECT you'll get hundreds of games for that subject and at least a game, I think, for each skill needed in that grade!

Mensa has free lesson plans online.

I also like UC Berkeley and MIT's free webcasts:

    http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/web/home/home/index.htm

Hippocampus also has some good stuff.

I have a lot of free curriculum listed here and free online educational games here. I tried to only list ones that I thought were worthwhile.
