Should I put my gifted 2 y.o. (turned 2 in Nov.) in a 1 or 2 day Mother's Day Out program to help "socialize" him? I have him involved in various kinds of Mommy and Me classes. Sometimes I do feel I need the break and that he needs more little buddies. He actually seems very happy playing with a friend of mine's 4 y.o. old triplets. He is already reading print and beginning to read cursive. He speaks in 9 word sentences at times. He knows his abcs, shapes, numbers and colors and has for a long time now. He is asking all sorts of questions about everything. He is a very happy kid. Will MDO help or hurt him?

With the comment of "Sometimes I do feel I need the break and that he needs more little buddies." I think you have your answer. If you enroll him and it doesn't seem to be working you can always pull him out and try something else, but I would definitely try it.

I'll vote for neither. If he's happy and not in need of more, I don't see with what it would help. And I also don't see why it would hurt him (provided he is willing to go). So I think the real issue is whether it will help you. smile

Thanks so much for the advice. We are going to try MDO, if we can get into a program. Moms camp-out to get spots around here. I'll keep you posted. smile
