My 3rd grader will be taking the SCAT next month. Does anyone have any suggestions on how he could prepare for the test. I didn't find any books (like the ones they have for SATs). Please help!

    Sushma,
Best Wishes. I don't reccomend "prepping" but it does seem to be worth explaining the difference between solving every math exquation and reasoning it out. Most kids will naturally reason it out, which is what the test hopes and expects, but a few with the perfectionism thing going will try to solve every problem and then not have enough time for all the problems. It's worth making sure your child understands the difference.

FWIW, my son with ADD and dysgraphia had no trouble finishing the entire exam. It is quite short and on a computer, which is helpful to many kids with writing problems and/or attention issues.

It wouldn't hurt to ensure that your child knows what an analogy is, but I would refrain from any sort of drill.
