Achievement or IQ? Does it matter which test, if I pick from the DYS list? Are some better than others?

I'm thinking of testing DD6. She needs more challenge in school and I would like her to get into DYS with her brother.
I will have to pay so I need to pick one test.

If you're applying to DYS, I believe they need both. If it's for gifted identification for entrance to a program in a school, I encourage you to find out what they'll accept. I would think a diagnostician would do both just as part of the diagnostic process.

I would do IQ, too, if you're only doing one test. I think it shows long range potential, and reasoning abilities.

The portfolio could show her achievement level (stories, writing, math etc.).

    Good luck!

I'm thinking that it would be better for her to be in DYS too, if she qualifies. I have yet to really see what it is all about as he just qualified. I think it would be a self esteem boost if they both are particiapating in DYS instead of her feeling left out. I have just the 2 children. I would also like to find ways to challenge her more in school. I do lots of challenging things out of school.
