Hello. I am a thirteen year old child who has skipped four (4) grades and am now a senior in high school. It's a bit late to be searching for scholarships now I guess, but I was wondering are there any special scholarships for people specifically like me? As in, are there scholarships designed specifically for children who have skipped multiple grades? Thank you in advance laugh

If this is a college scholarship that you are looking for, do you know where you will be attending college next year? Have you spoken with the financial aid office there?

Unfortunately, beyond going to normal route of scholarship search services and the financial aid office, I don't know of any scholarships specifically for accelerated students. Maybe you could try for a Mensa Foundation scholarship (they aren't big) or other scholarships that target or are offered by organizations for gifted people.

As far as I know there aren't any scholarships designed for kids who gradeskip, but i would definitly call these folks:

    www.jkcf.org/

and also, there is financial aid availible for kids through

    http://www.davidsongifted.org/youngscholars/
but it takes 6 months of belonging to the program before you can apply for financial aid.

Another alternative is to find a State University with an Honor's College, such as
    Robert E. Cook Honors College
    http://old.www.iup.edu/honors/
Even if you are out of state, the fee is about 10K in all. I have no idea if they will accept students that young, but if they do - let me know, I'll be right behind you!

If you are near New Jersy - join HEROs to get access to Rutgers University.

If you can move, another alternative is
    Davidson Academy of Nevada
    www.davidsonacademy.unr.edu

There you can do College Level work while getting High School credit with other kids of similar age. They also offer these kids a change to take college classes, since they are on a college campus.

    These are tough questions.
I'm so glad you are here with us.

Grinity, Thank you for posting this! Dd#1 is a 7th grader now, so we are going to give a try with applying for her when the applications come out this year. I'm not sure if we are low enough income to qualify, but we can see.

I'll let you know how it works out when we hear back next fall. Dh was out of work for a few months in 2009, so we are quite likely going to be below 60K for our 2009 income. Their website says that 90% of the kids they accept have family incomes below 60K. However, we won't be at the 25K range of the avg family mentioned on their site -- thankfully of course!
