I've been lucky on this one. When DD6 was almost 12 months old I meet a lady with a 1 1/2 yr old and she was in a gymboree club, so I ended up meeting 6 other parents with kids her age, within the group there was a little girl that was 18 months old did things like know all her colors, count to 30 or so, knew all her letters that type of thing (I'm certain she's GT) , my DD was doing all these things too so because of her DD I thought this was normal. Anyway DD is still good friends with this little girl and she has a little sister the same age as my younger DD, so it makes for wonderful play dates even now. Another thing that really helped is that when my DD's were 3 & 4 1/2 I put them in a dance classes, they've meet so many friends this way.
