This is very true! We both (DH and me) still like to build legos, wooden trains, I like crafts and playdoh. I can play with DD for long time with playdoh. We make food, animals or people from it and then Dd plays with it. It is easier for me to be fully involved when I can build something. She also likes wooden blocks and plastic animals. She needs lot of outdoor time, we try to play outside as much possible.

Her daycare is great and keep her busy smile She really needs lot of outside home activities.

Thank you all so much. She does love the open ended things such as legos and crafts, but she begs for mazes and workbooks, which means I have to keep buying higher and higher levels, but hey at least she enjoys herself.

I hear you OLi about outside time. DD LOVES outside, unfortunatly it is cold cold cold here, at least to my southern born self LOL. So there is no getting outside in the winter, at least not for long. It is not above freezing here for the next 10 days as the high GAAH!

She's really an amazing little girl!

Have you looked online for mazes and worksheets? Is she asking for harder things or do you just think that she needs to be challenged? DS isn't challenged at a lot of games that he likes to play and worksheets that he likes to do but he's fine with it. He also finds ways to make things more challenging. A year or two ago when he was starting to read really well he'd do things like turn the book upside down and read it that way or when he's writing his name for the 1,000th time for homework he'll make patterns out of the letters.

I agree with Legos and Tinkertoys and things like that. Those can keep him busy for a while.

Amanda, that is amazing! I just wanted to add cooking to the list - math, science and art all in one. And hand skills.

This just means you have to get warmer clothes smile DD does well with normal snowsuit, hat, mittens outfit but I need a THICK down jacket as I don't move around like her. Kids who live in Northern climates like Canada or North Europe go play outside everyday also during winter. I understand you dislike it, I do too. I just try hard to force myself (or DH LOL) out at least once a day. Dd is much easier to entertain when she got most of her running around in circles energy out.

I recently bought these workbooks for my little workbook lover. I do feel some of the material provokes deeper thinking than traditional workbooks. For my dd, some of the stuff is easy, some of the stuff will be new for her to learn and some of the stuff is over her head right now. I bought the 1st grade books because she seemed between the K and 1st grade books.

I know they are labeled "gifted". I actually wanted to "see" if there was a difference between these workbooks and traditional workbooks. She worked in them last night and really enjoyed them!
