DS walked over when I was setting myself up for torture in NaNoWriMo. He asked about it and I explained the idea. He decided that he wanted to participate with me!

We made him a word count of 1000. On the very first day of writing, he posted 118 words! This from a kid who hates to write. He's writing a play involving superheros and monsters. NaNo will send him a certificate for participating and if he completes his goal, he'll receive additional stuff. I can't believe how excited he is about this! I'll keep you posted...

Wolf is doing NaNo with me too. 1000 words as well, but we haven't started his yet due to behavior issues.... Sigh... I'm up to almost 4000 words though.

Do we have the same child at home? DS7 too decided to participate much to my surprise given his attitude towards writing. It might have helped that the all the children in the class he attends couple of times per week participate.

His goal is 1,000 as well, which is way too low but whatever makes him happy smile He wrote 190 words yesterday and about 100 more today.

Have you done the preparation booklet?

It's quite awesome. It makes one really thing about all the characters, setting, story line, etc.

One week down, three to go. I'm churning toward 21,000. My young accomplice will hit 300 today!! For DS6 this is truly amazing. He gets so excited when we post his new word count each night.

    Soooo.... How's everyone else doing?

DS9 has a goal set of 6000 words and is over 1000 words now. He's having a lot of fun with it! I think I set his goal a little high based on how much computer time I'll let him have vs. other work we need to do on the computer. I may adjust down a little? We may not have computer access over the Thanksgiving holiday either.

I'm at 16000 and Wolf is at nearly 400 out of 1000. I think he's going to go over...

What are you talking about? It sounds like I want to do it too.

Here is a link to NaNoWriMo

DS7 is doing great. He wrote more than 1,150 words and already surpassed his original goal of 1,000. Today he doubled his goal. I am pretty sure he will meet it without any problems.

Oooh, thanks! I heard about this last year and had forgotten about it! The page seems to be down right now, so maybe everybody's jammed it up with their writing. I'll have to check it out and get DS7 involved--it's right up his alley.
