A lot of the description rang a bell for me, much like my ds9, however I would not consider him primarily a 'linear' thinker or learner. My ds' main problem in group work has typically been working with kids who aren't polite, not feeling personally accepted by group, not having ideas accepted by the group, lack of fairness and other issues which I think a lot of gifted kids run into when dealing with more than one person at a time.
I also wonder about how well a less-than-socially-adept person would be able to compose a good email. Doesn't writing with the understanding of how things will be interpreted utilize many of the same skills used in face to face communication? I don't know, I have probably read way too many awkward work emails where people come off as rude, etc., when simply trying to convey information.
This is really thought provoking:
"Theres one element of Writing Across the Curriculum from which left-brainers should be exempt, however, and that is the requirement that they explain their answers to math problems verbally. Many left-brainers do arithmetic automatically in their heads in ways that cant be explained in words."
Again, doesn't sound linear to me, but does sound like my kid.
Very interesting, thanks for posting!
