Actually, that sounds an awful lot like my son :-) His handwriting is terrible, he often messes with adults just for fun, builds complicated things out of junk and does the bare minimum to get by in anything that is deemed "below" him.

That being said, this was same evil teacher who wanted him to repeat kindergarten because he had yet to color a picture and stay in the lines. Nevermind he was reading 4 years above grade level and doing math at least 2 years above. That was irrelevant. Coloring is important.

I digress... back to your regularly scheduled thread on analogies.

    Ok, here is an analogy:

Its like saying Usayn Bolt cannot compete in the 100M dash until he can break the world record in the pool ( or the bob sled race!)

Sounds like my K teacher. She wanted me held back because I couldn't tie my shoes. My mom simply switched me to velcro. grin Oh, yeah, and I refused to dance with the letter people (on the grounds that I found it juvenile and absurd). I did get in big trouble for that, but I stand by my decision to this day. laugh

I enjoyed reading all the analogies and chris1234's really spoke to me. I've been advocating for school nutrition issues and unfortunately some teachers seem to be okay with having kids skip the main course and the spinach in order to go right to dessert. frown

blush I think they were fairly new; if I remember correctly, I was the only kid with them.
