DD loves her puzzles but she goes trough them so fast we can not keep up. I just ordered more from Amazon, they should come on Monday. Last ones we got 3 weeks ago and first most of them were too difficult for her, not anymore. At the daycare the most demanding puzzles in her room are 12 piece puzzles (she is easily doing 24-48 now), I keep on thinking I should buy some for the daycare too as she will be in that room still for months.

We really need puzzle library, they are getting surprisingly expensive considering the short time she plays with them. It seems to take 2 weeks to master a new puzzle and then she has interest in it for another 2 weeks.

Oh I hear you, dd masters them so quickly, we seriously buy a new one at least once a week.

Try garage sales for puzzles or a puzzle swap with a friend.

Our library has puzzles but I'm not sure you can check them out. This would be a good suggestion for the library.

There are also good puzzles on the internet and on computer disk. Try a search.

Our library does lend puzzles! Maybe yours will if you request it? Perhaps donate some of your old ones?

freecycle might not be a bad place to look either!

I got some on eBay not too long ago. I think there were 5 puzzles, and I paid maybe $6, including postage!

    Our library also lends puzzles.

If she's old enough to point & click with a mouse, then look for on-line puzzles. There are hundreds of websites with free puzzles, and free puzzle makers to make your own computerized puzzles.

Wow, I wish our library lent puzzles, that would be an awsome resource. I have asked though, but they don't have but the two in the children's section to play with.

I need to ask but I have never seen puzzles in our library. We need to start to go to yard sales.

I mentioned last week I ordered puzzles and they came on Monday. Five regular ones (2x 24 and 3x 48 pieces) + some 3D type stuff. Well she has no interest in the 24 piece puzzles and is mastering 48 one's immediately they arrived. I really tough that it would take more time as the ones we have she remembers and new picture should be more difficult.

I don't know what do when she'll be tired of these as she is not able to handle it if the size of the puzzles is huge (accidentally sits on it and pieces will come apart) or if the pieces are very flimsy (same problem her hand knock the pieces apart). The wooden one's with wooden back board (like Melissa and Doug) are the best. With the cheaper cardboard puzzles she will need my help to keep the thing as one piece while she is building it. It is not that I mind helping her but she gets really upset when she can not do it herself.

Where to find something more demanding than 48 piece but still doable for 27mo old. Is there anything with a backboard and thick smallish pieces ?

We will look into online puzzles but she cannot use the mouse yet, she can click and use keyboard but is not coordinated enough to move the mouse around. We'll see how it goes if I'm her hands smile

I also looked eBay but the one's which are suitable for her are heavy and the shipping is more than a new puzzle from Amazon.

Have you tried to slow your mouse down for her? I slowed my grandmother's down for her and realized later that I should also slow down DS's mouse because he would accidentally flick it all over the screen!

Our library does not lend puzzles. I got most of ours at the dollar store and bought a cheap piece of finished wood at home depot for DS to build on. He also did smaller ones on a cookie sheet.
