I will be meeting the teacher soon to discuss abt what we can do for Ds9 re. his Math needs. The teacher mentioned in email abt "letting him do Singapore Math, but also intending him to to follow the objectives for his current yr (grade 4) lesson but she will ensure that the lesson is differentiated to accommodate his needs and that higher level work is included in both the starter and the whole class teaching to ensure he is benefitting too."

I am not sure how Singapore Math fits in here since I have no exposure to it. Also, Ds9 is doing CTY online Math (Algebra I) after school so I am not sure if there will be an overlap in the curriculum. Anyone with experience with Singapore Math?

I am definitely not looking at more homework for Ds. I am hoping that his Math time in school can be used constructively instead. I am very sure that this new sch will not support the CTY program financially. Do u think I should request that he do it during Math time (I am paying for the course) if Singapore Math is not what he needs?

You can get a look at Singapore Math here:

There is a placement test available too.

Did she say which level he would be using?

    Thks Cathy.

I went for the meeting. The teacher only has the level 5 books and she has no idea what SM is abt. I told her abt the placement tests online (thanks again for the link) but I am not sure if she will let him do it. If not, I may let him try them at home because I don't want him to have to repeat what he already knows.
She will also include some worksheets for him and some online work from MyMaths.
Ds says he prefers to work on his CTY during school hrs. We talked and decided that we will see what the teacher will give him for the next few weeks.
The teacher also advise me to get a Math tutor for him.
