Now comes the waiting game. We meet with "all the school people" next Thursday. Apparently they have no idea of my anxiety issues.

I have requested a list of tests taken and/or the results, so I don't walk into the meeting completely blinded. I have never been so nervous in my life!

Does anyone know, though I'm sure it could vary state to state, the "laws" regarding testing results? In other words, if I request them, before a meeting, is the school or a psychologist obligated to give them to me? Yes, I really have issues with patience!!!

I would guess that it depends on if they're part of his file yet. If they are then, under FERPA, you can go to the school and request to look at his file. If they aren't placing them in his file until after the meeting, then I'm not sure how that works, sorry!

I had the same anxiety issues after DS7's test. I thought it was going to be a few days and I walked around with my stomach in a knot, occasionally breaking out in a huge grin (when I was feeling optimistic) and other times feeling like I was going to cry. I am not a patient person at all.

That's me too. And of course they are not in his file yet! I got the "we'll go over it in the meeting. He was given tests on Achievement, Aptitude and a Psych for mental abilities"

Remember, you don't have to decide anything at the meeting. You can take the time you need to digest the test results before you commit to any plan they may offer--ask for a future meeting if necessary.

Tip: We got DS5's WJ-III results shortly before our big group meeting with the school last spring, but we didn't get everything. I found it helpful to ask the psych during the meeting what the Grade Equivalents were for DS's results. This really helped the rest of the group get that DS might need a bit more. The numbers don't seem mean much to anyone who isn't super familiar with them. (I can't remember if you're getting IQ results or achievement results or both; forgive me if this is not relevant.)

Both. They won't even tell me WHAT tests they gave him... I mean I'm sure they would if I complained and whatnot, but in reality, it's just my inability to be patient combined with my anxiety!

In that case, I recommend writing a list of questions to ask, so you don't forget during the meeting.

I think anyone whose DC have gone through testing can relate to the difficulties of waiting for the results! Good luck.

Exactly. In fact I would make a pact with myself in advance to not agree to anything at this meeting, and take it all home to (post) and digest. Plan to ask for another meeting.

Now that the tests are over, they may be willing to tell you which tests they used. If you can figure that part out, at least you can occupy yourself with research on the tests, their score ranges, etc.

Throwing myself into a project or a research always helps me bide time. I know how you feel though -I'm not gifted at patience!
