    Long time, no post. smile
I didn't see this here already, but I'm still catching up:

In research by Ms. Schanzenbach and her colleague Derek Neal, they found the laws current structure gives schools a perverse incentive to leave the worst- and best-scoring students behind, instead concentrating primarily on students in the middle.

DDs 7&5 started back to school last week. DD5 is going to 1st in the a.m. for reading and math. She's with her K class for the p.m. Hopefully this will help match up with the asynchronous development. crazy

    Hi Inky,
Glad to see some virtual ink from you!
Good luck with DD5 in 1st. I hope she gets a great teacher who will welcome her with open arms. I'll bet she does!
    Smiles,
    Grinity

Thanks Grinity and so far, so good for the teachers. Unfortunately the school is undergoing a major renovation right now and the safety issues are giving me fits. Wish there was a DYS-quality board to turn to for help with that!

DD5 told me she took a reading test with the 4th graders today. That had me scratching my head until I realized it must have been the MAP testing. She seemed to be okay with the experience but couldn't remember any score at the end.

We're getting ready to go on a short family trip to Europe so my virtual ink will continue to be pretty sparse. I'm reading the threads and wishing everyone good luck as we find our way!

    Bon Voyage!
Love those MAP tests. Glad they are giving your dd the right one.
