My ds is 7 yrs old and will be taking the WISC-IV and WIAT-II on Saturday. He took the wppsi when he was just turned 4 and scored a 130 and the tester said he wouldn't do the easy problems just the hard ones and so she couldn't give him credit for the easy ones even through she knew he knew how to do them. That if he had done them his score would have been higher.
Age wise he is a 2nd grader however he has been moved up to 3rd grade. He will be moved up to 4th grade math in 2 weeks and then 5th grade math in january. He will also be moved up to 4th grade science in 2 weeks and possiblily Language arts too.
He is my first child so I don't know what exactly a PG child looks like. But he will eventually be working 3 grade levels above in math. He can read anything but chooses not to.
Any help on identifing if he really is a PG child would be helpfull. I also have a 20 month old lil dd that is already counting to 20, can say her alphabet and some letter sounds. Has a huge vocabulary and talks in 3-5 word sentences. So, she may be like her brother but is still to young to know for sure but is already ahead of her age peers.

Good luck! I hope you get a better idea this time. I am impressed by all the accommodations you are getting in school. Great!!!
Have you talked to him about testing? I used the recommendations from Hoagies. Namely, explained to my dd that they were going to ask her silly and easy questions because the test was designed for kids that were younger than her. It was important that she gave the right answer even if the question was too simple or boring. I also explained that there would be very hard questions since the test was taken by older kids as well (never used the word test though); so it was important for her to give her best guess for those.
I just posted about re-testing my DD. She was also tested at 4 (but closer to 5) and we knew we were not getting a real idea of where she is/was.
When will you get results?

Ok, testing is done. Now we have to wait a week for the results.

Did your DS enjoy the process? Could you get any info out of him? A week isn't bad for a wait ---
Is your tester familiar with the levels of giftedness and testing gifted children?
Since there isn't any accepted definition of PG, it's hard to know if you've got one. Being accepted to Young Scholar's Program (YSP) is one way. The best way to find out if your child will get into the YSP is to apply. I really like the book 'Losing Our Minds: Gifted Children Left Behind' by Deborah Ruf for stories about many kids who fall along the range of giftedness.
Good luck - love your school! Grinity

Son really enjoyed the process and didn't have any problems or issues. He told us a little about what he had to do. (***** I have edited the details of what my ds said. Per another poster this info probably shouldn't be discussed.****) The one part my husband over heard was that my son wanted to make sure that the tester wrote down "Humans" as animals.
The tester that we used is the head of the G/T education department at a local university. She is great with children. She tested him at 4 and now again at 7 and she is wonderful. She is very knowledgeable about gifted children and the many levels. For the 2 test that ds did take it only cost $300 which is very reasonable.
It has been a long time since I have read Dr. Ruf's levels. I know that my son wasn't in the top level but the 2 levels below that he fits in with her description.
