Quick question to anyone that may know this. Would portfolio and other such information be needed on a young child (5) that is way above the scores for minimum testing criteria on all tests? I am wondering this because I thought I would just send in our report since it's 28 pages long. I thought that would be sufficient along with application. Is it helpful to do more upfront or just wait to see if they ask for more?

You could just call them and ask. They have always been very helpful when I've called smile

They asked for a portfolio for DS5. He was comfortably above their IQ cutoff on the SV-5 and way WAY above cutoff on the WIAT verbal score. He was below cutoff on WIAT for math, though. He was accepted after they reviewed the portfolio. You might as well try with just the report first! You can always send a portfolio if needed later.

I agree. If they need more, they'll ask, and there's no reason to send more if you don't have to. Less work for you!

Hi shellymos - we just submitted scores for our DS5, without portfolio. I am lazy, so I figured we'd worry about portfolio later if they asked for anything. smile

Thanks everyone! I think I will just go with what I have and send it in and wait and see if they need more. I plan on sending it in this week. I am hopeful if he gets in we can also talk with someone before school starts.

DYS6 was accepted at the age of 5 with qualifying IQ and achievement test. We didn't do portfolio. I think you will be more than fine with what you have.

As gratified3 said it's past the deadline so the application won't be processed till August. I would say that it may take till October before you get to talk to your family consultant.

    Good luck

Yeah, DS didn't turn 5 until right after their deadline....so couldn't send it in until then. So I have it ready and will send it out tomorrow. I am sure the first couple weeks of school will go okay....but may need some support after that if they don't do any subject acceleration. He is skipping a grade and I worry that they will think that is enough.
