I am taking a gifted class and was a bit frightened by all of the problems gifted students can have so I decided to check my child's WPPSI scores because my child shows lots of gifted characteristics. The administrator gave me the scores and then told me how she does not approve of the gifted program because it makes kids feel superior. (I thought this was pretty crazy) Anway, there weren't any IQ scores on it but here were all the other ones on the scaled scores.
    Verbal
    information - 15
    vocabulary - 16
    word reasoning - 15
    similarities - 14
    Performance
    block design - 15
    matrix reasoning - 13
    Picture concepts - 15
    Processing speed scores
    symbol search - 12
    coding - 15

She was 4 yrs. and 8 mo when she took the test.
If anyone can tell me what her IQ score is or if she falls in the gifted range I would really appreciate it. I was a gifted underachiever and if she is gifted I want to make sure she gets all the support and understanding that she needs.

    Thank you!!!

my guess is FSIQ about 138. but i'm a newbie and wondering how close i come!..(my method..I know with an average subscale score of 16 you get about a 145 and i think your DD has an average of about 15).. though i know its more complicated than that!

oh and i forgot to mention that what's additionally "nice" about your childs scores is that they are very across-the-board strong scores.. no real weaknesses that could hold her back. i think that 12 and 13 are above average too.

Thank you so much for your input. I am going to do all I can to help her be well adjusted. I just worried because the professor in our class on the gifted said he wouldn't wish gifted on anyone. My daughter has it extreme when it comes to overexcitability and she spends most of her time making art and daydreaming so I thought she was gifted creatively but didn't think she would test so high on an IQ test. (she also is behind in math) Now I just have to figure out the best placement. I can't imagine her in a large cafeteria with all the noise where the gifted program would be and they don't have a gifted art program until high school. I think I am leaning towards leaving her in private school and just providing her with an enrichment class after school for now.

i think the 16/145 may follow suit for the WPPSI as my DD5's mean was 16.2 and she ended up with 147. But i would agree she is at least in the Moderate to Highly gifted range for the scores, especially with the uniformity across the board with them.
