Yup! We actually have an open thread for bragging that we all LOVE to read! Brag on! You're in the right place!

I always say that I feel like these are *our* kids, and I'm rooting for every one of them. So personally speaking, the brags bring me joy! Please post them. We appreciate them here.

I think a lot of people don't understand that this isn't about *us*, it's about the kids. For most of us, I think that the children are who/what they are and we're just trying to find a way to deal with it.

I believe there are folks out there who need to have bright kids at the top of the class, best grades, "must be a genius", etc. *They* need/want/desire it. It's less about "hey, my kid does this" and more about "hey, look what I produced".

For me, this isn't something *I* wanted/needed - it is what it is and now I'm just trying to do what's in my child's best interest. A lot of people don't get that.

    JMHO....

You hit the nail on the head JDax! I love all my kids...heck I never actually met any kid that I didn't think was amazing and cool in some regard which is why I am in education. As for my kids...they are all amazing..the reality is that having a gifted child is a challenge along with any other issue. It has its ups and downs and we are all just trying to give them what they need.

I read a quote once that I can't quite remember but the thrust of it was that our children are not extensions of ourselves but we are merely the gateway for that person to enter the world and they are totally separate people from us.

(My nephews and their parents were not in attendance). It just irked me, I feel that I can never have a proud moment just for MY DD -- so I responded with "Well, my DD was talking up a storm at 18 months and in preschool by 2 years..."

My grandmother always did this. We were all high achievers, etc. However, when I got to college, I was speaking with a cousin my age and it turns out that my Grandmother did the same with them. She started telling me that all our GM talked about was our accomplishments - and my cousin is very accomplished.
    LOL
