Colleges understand that not all schools offer the same courses. Your dd will be evaluated based upon whether she took the most challenging courses AVAILABLE to her.
I wish this were true, but in reality - it is not. Very few students from here get accepted into good colleges and those that do, stay one or two semesters because they are so behind.
Most of the really challenging schools do offer Latin beginning in sixth grade. Many expect students to take at least two years. For exceptional students, this is important for their history and their language structure. My daughter can read about anything she wants to (and that I will let her). She is going to seventh grade and needs to advance in this way.
