I am so happy to have found this forum!
I have two boys, ages 7 and almost 13. We have been homeschooling for the past six years. My oldest is twice exceptional, his LDs being dyslexia, ADHD, and various sensory processing issues. We started out homeschooling him because he was struggling mightily in Montessori first grade. It took years to get an accurate diagnosis; in fact, we only just got an official gifted "diagnosis" this past November.
My youngest has not been formally tested (but has an appointment to be on Wednesday). He works solidly 2+ grades ahead of age, so I'm guessing that he'll be "diagnosed" as gifted as well.
My oldest will be formally starting high school work in the fall, both in level *and* in expectations for output. He has actually been doing high school level work in math, foreign language, history, and science this year but I hesitated to call it that because of his LDs (I was worried that I was helping him too much when I was really just giving him appropriate accommodations and support).
I'm looking forward to participating on this forum.
