Wow, great scores, Kerry! I'm also glad you didn't get the (seemingly common) "Oh, we see this all the time" response.

As for the NWEA testing -- are they just going from the MAP for Primary Grades to the standard MAP test?

Anyway, congrats on your dd's fabulous scores! I hope the school continues to make adjustments for her as necessary -- that's priceless.

Yes, and no - I think confused I'm not really sure which numbers you are looking for, or what a GAI is, or what it means. So, here are all the numbers I have for each of those areas.

    VCI scores:
summed scaled score 49, composite score 138, percentile 99
    on the VCI subtests:
similarities - raw score 24, scaled score 18 Test Age Equiv. 12:6, percentile 99.6
    Vocabulary - raw 31, scaled 17, test age 9:6, percent 99
    Comprehension - raw 17 scaled 14 test age 8:2 percent 91

    PRI scores:
summed scaled 45, composite score 131, percentile 98
    on the subtests:
    block design - raw 26, scaled 14, test age 9:2, percent 91
    picture concepts - raw 12, scaled 12, test age 7:2, percent 75
    matrix reasoning - raw 23, scaled 19, test age 11:10, percent 99.9

Are the numbers you're looking for in these somewhere?

What is the picture concepts subtest about? It is so much lower than everything else it seems strange.

    Dottie,
    DD is 6years 2 months.
What do GAI and LNS stand for?

    Mia,
I'm not sure about the NWEA, but I think it means that she will be taking the standar MAP test, I'll check.

Unfortunately, DH has lost his job, so we will have to leave her great little school because there are no jobs around here for someone with his background, other than the one he had. frown

We're really hoping we find something as good for her where ever we end up.

Sorry to hear your news Kerry. With a caring Mom like you I am sure that you will find a way to make sure that her needs are met. Also, you have been through the process of finding out your daughter's needs and negotiating for her once before so at least you will be fully prepared and know what to expect next time, which should hopefully make it easier. Thinking of you and don't forget we are all here to support you. smile

Thanks Tiz for the words of encouragement. It is hard to see anything straight at the moment considering I am a stay at home mom so we are losing our only income. We do see a bit of a silver lining in that we will now be able to look for an area with a good district that DD could possibly stay in for the rest of her schooling, whereas where we are now we already knew we'd have to leave before she got into middle school because the level of education is so low here.

Oh Kerry, I'm so sorry your DH lost his job. I'll keep my fingers crossed something great comes across your path.

Hi, I'm new here. My DS6 is finishing 1st grade. He was tested in Kindergarten and qualified for the gifted program at school. Our school uses a test called the RIAS to determine IQ. He had a 158 verbal and 160 non-verbal and a 160 overall. This is the only testing the district did. He has an IEPG. I find that many programs for gifted children that are available outside school do not accept this IQ test for entry into programs. Is there a particular reason? Is it inaccurate? Is it just new? Is it unreliable? I could use some advice and would prefer to avoid private testing if possible. Please help.

Actually, the RIAS was the only IQ testing done. I should have been more specific. They did look at other things to determine acceptance into the gifted program such as work done at school, parent and teacher questionaires and interviewing him as well. Sorry to have been unclear :-)
