This link may help with FERPA:

Here's a thread from another board that's more specific to gifted, FERPA and LA if you need it. Hopefully you won't need it.

Wow INKY thanks A TON for this link it was so, so, SO helpful. It very clearly states that "The Office for Civil Rights determined that the test protocols used by a psychologist to prepare a report are educational records and must be produced to the parents." Surely if the protocols must be produced, then the scores must be! Again, thanks so much! I will definitely be looking further into this site as soon as I get some laundry and housework done. In all of my excitement, I have spent the entire morning and half of the afternoon surfing this site!

What logic was that law based on?

Thanks SO much for your advice. I definitely agree that I should hold of on sending the letter until we see exactly which records they will release. Though I have already prepared it smile smile smile. I am having a really tough time trying to find the state law they use to justify their position of not releasing the scores. The psych and social worker both inferred that they thought that the law was ridiculous too and the psych stressed that we would be able to figure out her actual IQ score by the information we receive. I fogot which test she was given, but I'm pretty sure it was either the Stanford Binet or WISC. Of course, as soon as we left the meeting, I thought of a thousand questions I should have asked.

I'm curious about whether you gave permission for them to test your child.

    M2Sofia,
If the standard deviation on any of the parts turns out to be '3'above the mean - apply to Davidson Young Scholar Program and let them figure it out! Your DD already fooled you on the multiplication, so don't underestimate her again, ok?

Welcome and thanks for sharing your story. So lovely!
