Suzanne is probably talking about the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, also known as the KABC-II (revision II is current). This will give good insight, but it is not a very well known test. The more popular options are the WPPSI (preschool version of the WISC-IV, used for ages 2.5 or so to 6) and the SB-5 (a full range IQ test). Whatever psychologists your colleague contacts will probably have a preference. Both have their pros and cons.
I would suspect its the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test, Second Edition or KBIT-2... it is a popular test with some schools because it is quick and cheap compared to other tests... only valid for children age 4 and above.
