This crossed my path on another board and I thought people might want to know about it:

    http://www.singaporemaths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1252

Personally, I prefer the Singapore "Intensive Practice" books which are quite good problem-solving stuff of many sorts, not just word problems. (Note that this is NOT the "Extra Practice" books, which I have never tried and would assume are more of the same problems in the regular workbooks.)

But I know a lot of people really like the word problems. Get them before they're gone, I guess!

What ages are the word problems for? (or target age, I know around here kids usually go a few grades up) DD13 wants supplemental math because the schools "honors" curriculum is not cutting it at all (she is staying on grade level, we could not make the out of grade level testing). And we were thinking about Singapore math. (I don't know what level she should be placed at) but she does have a math SAT score if that would help.

DS7 is...well, 7! So I don't know much about their curriculum for older kids. They do have one, and people do use it. I don't think it's as well-liked as some other programs for kids that age though.

I'd recommend that you post on the teen age-specific forum here. Ania and Cym and the other parents of older kids can probably help you out more than I can. They've been there and done that a bit more than I have!

LOL I posted about CWP going OOP a few threads below this one currently.

I may get CWP 5 and 6 for the challenging sections and pick up the IPs for 5 and 6. Currently I'm going to have DS work through Zaccaro's Primary Grade Challenge Math.

SM Primary series which is what CWP is matched up with goes to pre-algebra, beginning algebra. After that, there is SM NEM and several new programs.

For 13 year old you may look into AOPS (Art of Problem Solving) if she is into math.

Singapore Primary edition ends in the middle of the 7th grade (6B). CWP are complementary material for the Primary edition.

Singapore Math provides different programs after Primary Math. Many people use Singapore the Primary edition for the early years but then move onto something else.
