I just received some test results and need some help! My DS took the WPSSI at 3 and a half to get into a gifted program and scored with a full score IQ of 140 which was 99.7% I can't recall the subtests but I remember he was in the 99.9% on the Verbal and a little less on the other part. He was just given a one word expressive vocabulary test for a different public school and I called to get the results and she told me he scored 111 which is at the 75%. I understand the one word expressive vocabulary test was only 10 minutes long but I am concerned with that score. Does this test correlate with a verbal IQ score and if so can IQ go down and by that much?

Do you know more about the vocab test your Ds took? Was it like an IQ screening test? I don't know much about tests, but sometimes IQ scores can be unreliable under ages 4-5, especially if you have a kid who is very verbal at a young age. That said, it seems an awfully big change to go from 99.9% to 75%. It sounds more like maybe it was just a bad test day for your DS. Does it seem wrong to you even if you don't consider the earlier scores?

I was curious. Google showed many hits

I'm no expert but it sounds a lot like the multiplication table assessments that bore my DD8 (and me too if the truth be told). They don't stop until you miss, Geez, it would be to your benefit to get it over with....I was getting that they present picture after picture have the kids name them until they miss 8 in a row.
