Soup, do you mean, when you met with him privately he seemed more supportive than another meeting? Was he at the meeting with the gifted person and was less committal in that meeting?
No .... met with him twice both times privately and .... it was like talking to two different people.
This is weird that you ask that, kind of like dj vu here.
When we were still hopeful that our public district would be willing to help in some way, we eventually called the GT principle (from a different school) to plead our case to have our son early entranced because he just missed the cut-off and to have our daughter grade advanced. This was apparently some type of additional duty for one of the four grade school principles in our district.
Alone, he was completely empathetic and mentioned that he had intentionally gone for his advanced degree in a more progressive big city of a neighboring state. When we met again with his boss, he was completely mute as the superintendent gave the same old tired spiel about driving, sports and all the other kids who were just as gifted. We were stunned to receive GT principles call as soon as we got back home with apologies for the whole situation. I actually considered that he was the only good administrator here, but had to consider how to feed his kids too.
