Is your school involved? If not , check this out

We have been doing this for the past 5 years and it is a good math game/fun.
Son has a perfect score this year, after being one away from perfect in 6th grade! (in 7th grade he was like 3 points away).
Daughter is enjoying it too smile

We've not done it yet, but I'm planning to start a group this coming fall.

We're doing it in the middle school math club. I really like that they get to participate in competitions, but have to figure out how to make it more valuable next year, since they're not learning about what they did wrong & correct solutions. Basically I think the teacher is too busy and just has agreed to administer the tests, rather than improve their problem solving.

Here is what we are doing.
Kids meet twice a week (7 A.M) in two groups: 4-6 grade and 7-9
(our school goes through 9th grade) and work on problemsolving.
Contests are administered during school hours by a parent volunteer (yours truly). When kids leave I hand them solution pages with correct answers and solutions. At that time they are thinking about the problems and maybe, just maybe, something will stick in. My son also holds impromptu sessions right after the contest, in the hallway, discussing his approach to solving given problems. Kids do listen then!
I think that it is of paramount importance to hold those contests during school hours. We have about 100 kids that participate. If it was after school the numbers would be significantly lower.

Our competitions are given during school hours. It was just the practice that was afterschool.

I would love to get this started at our school. I'm sure they would require that it be held afterschool not during school hours. Basically anything in the world tagged as extracurricular is forced into afterschool.

I'll check out the website, Thanks!
