Does anyone have any "kids say the dardest things" type of quotes to share?

today dd 2years 2months was making a picture for Dadda and she said, "I'm going to draw a heart, because a heart means love, and because we love Dadda." It was just so sweet. I wrote that quote on her picture and it is now hanging in the hallway.

My DD8, when she was about 2 or 3 hurt herself near her eye. I said to DH "I think she's going to get a black eye". DD8 said as tears started "But I don't want my eyes to turn black, I like them blue!" Fast forward 5 years to my younger DD3 who hurt herself near her eye the other day. I again told my DH that she'll end up with a black eye. DD3 said with a sad look on her face "instead of blue, that's sad".

It's so funny to me because they are so very different. DD8 was there when DD3 said it and really enjoyed it since we had told her of her remark several times.

The black eye story reminds me of DD a few weeks ago. She has her 'big boys' to play with (two golden retrievers named Barley and Hops) and was laying on one cuddling when the other came over to get in the middle of it causing the one she was laying on (Hops) to jump up and come down with his paw right on her eye causing a scratch which of course upset her and she started to cry. But when she calmed down which was less than a minute she made sure to inform me: "Mommy, it wasn't Hops fault. It was just an accident and really it was Barley that started all of it, but I'm not mad at him either." She shows so much empathy and was so concerned that her boys were going to get into trouble. The only one that got into trouble was ME by DH who had a fit and made me take the boys in to get their nails clipped.

So many stories, the first one that come to mind is something my DD5 said when she was 2 1/2. I have an older daughter who is married and was having her first son (now 3). I was explaning to my little one that she was going to be an aunt soon, as soon as her newphew was born. With tears in her eyes she said "I don't want to be an ant, I want to be a ladybug!"

When DD7 was about 2.5 or so, she was having a really "difficult" day with getting into things and I was getting irritated. So, (in one of my less than ideal mommy moments) I said to her, "Straighten up and fly right!". She stopped dead in her tracks and started to cry and said,"but mommy, I don't know how to fly!!"

At a family Christmas gathering, DD3 opened up her first gift and exclaimed with much excitement, "It's a box!!!!" We told her there was something inside the box, too - imagine that? So DD3 started opening her second gift and exclaimed yet again, "It's ANOTHER box!!" She was so excited to be opening presents, she didn't care what they were. We all laughed.

Oh, and last month we took DD3 to the dentist so she could see DH get his teeth cleaned before we made her appointment for her first visit to the dentist. I sat in the lobby holding DD7mo and I had to go to the bathroom really bad. So I asked the receptionist if she could hold the baby for me (it's a small office that knows us real well). Of course the receptionist was more than happy to hold the baby (they had been eyeing her the whole time I sat in the lobby) and she took DD7mo over to where DH and DD3 were. When I came out of the bathroom, I went over to DD3, DH and the lady holding my baby. DD3 says real loud, "Mommy, you went pee!!" She repeated it another 2 times so that everyone was laughing by the time she was done.

Fast forward to this past week, my FIL went to the dentist. The girls there are STILL laughing about DD3 announcing to everyone that I went pee. Thank goodness she didn't announce her other favorite thing about the bathroom ("Mommy, are you going rocks?").

When my DD6 was about 2 1/2 she hit her head on the corner of the wall. She ended up with a huge lump on her forehead and was extremely upset. She insisted on looking at it in the mirror. All of a sudden she stopped crying and looked at me and very seriously asked me, "Momma, is my brain gonna fall out?" It was so funny!! I love these stories, they're so cute!

At thanksgiving time we were at my Sister's home in a lovely snowy area. The kids were out sledding with their cousins, one of whom is a 7yo boy with a very fragile emotional system. He is prone to throwing himself down and having full blown tantrums at the drop of a hat.

The response that everyone gives to this behavior is to ensure that he is safe and let him finish. We don't see him often so my dds are not exposed to his "routines" regularly.

So DN has a melt down face first in the snow. Everyone goes about their business as if nothing happened. DD7 goes running to my sister and says "Aren't you a nurse or something? You need to help him before his head explodes!!"

We were laughing which caused DN to "get over himself" to see what was so fun over where we were.
