That's pretty heavy, Soup. I wonder if it's best just to be upfront about everything with the private school anyway. Don't want to jump out of the pan into the fire....

What are you going to do?

well, we have been very honest with the private school, the problem is the 504 was edited by the principal and it made DS7 look like he was special ed. instead of gifted.

Basically I guess because she would better be able to argue for services if he looked like special ed. The principal came right out at the meeting we had this summer to accelerate him and said,"Well, he'll need a diagnosis!" Yeah... good times.... good times.

they keep telling us there is something wrong because they can't get money for him otherwise. so they say with one side of there mouth, he's fine, he's just gifted, and the other .... he has many "special needs"

He doesn't have special needs other then to be educated at a faster pace and a higher level. Well.... actually i take it back, he does have some issues with balance, but we think that is due to his sinus. He has been on antibiotics for over almost 2 months and we are seeing a vast improvement in balance and body awareness.

Oh, Soup, so sorry! What's your timetable here? Are you working for making the move in January or for 2009-10?

Any reasonable person should understand that explanation, soupy. Can you get a teacher to write a strong rec for him?

we are shooting for next school year.

I want him to go there and be in 3rd. Which he is in now, but 3rd there is like 4th in his current school and they told me they would be about to give him hard work and send him to upper classes if need be. the kids at the private school seem normal. they pride themselves on accepting difference. so i am praying it works out and the financial aid works out too!

Yes, fingers crossed for you on placement and the aid!

How do you think he'll survive the rest of this year? Any thoughts on that, or is it just too much to even think about?

not sure how we are going to make it through the year..... tough it out

give him fun stuff to do at home..... he has started a blog and is getting into photography... we'll see where he goes with it.

I know he is aching to get his hands on our video camera, but it's not really built tough enough for him. The camera he uses has a video capture on it... i will have to show him that feature.....

Aslo for his spelling work, he has to write sentences using all the words.... he has been writing scripts.... maybe I'll push him to make some short movies.

Ooh! Movies sounds great! Any fun friends around who could act for him? That could be a really great project for your particular son's interests, it sounds like!
