    Hi Dazy!
I would suggest that you request them to do the Wisc/WJ now, in writting (not email) to the principle and the gifted coordinatior if there is one. Just a matter of fact statement that while DS is enjoying some parts of school, that he is uncomfortable with the amount of work that is being done that isn't a challenge for him. If you want, request that he be moved to that nice 1st grade teachers room after the Winter holidays. I'm not saying that you should do this, just that if you request it, it will give them some reason to test early.

I'm sure that the school realizes what went down with your older son, and should be feeling a bit willing to met you half way with your younger one.

BTW - the afterschooling you are doing sounds lovely, and I think that it is 'enough' as long as your son is willing to try new things, not exhibiting increasing perfectionistic behavior, and you are needed by your older son at home right now. As a mom of an only, my hat is off to you!

    Love and More Love,
    Grinity

DS8 was pulled out of the 2-5 school so I doubt the K-1 school knows what happened. The teacher's aid knows I'm HSing DS8 (I know her outside of school) but I don't know if she has told DS5's teacher.

Isn't he too young for the WISCIV? I thought the min age was 6yrs old? At any rate, we don't have a gifted coord at K-1 level and I've never heard of anyone having any testing done. I was told by a parent of a PG+ (4+yr acceleration) son that nothing will be done until 5th grade at which time I can force them to give end of the year 6th grade test so that when he moves to middle school, he can take 7/8th grade honors math as a 6th grader and honor science. And she fought and fought and played the game lol which is soooo not me. Our district is very anti-acceleration. Her son is the first to be accelerated in YEARS. I had DS8 privately tested and that has been a fiasco as Dottie knows w/ calculation errors and psych unwilling to put in the time to find his error nor has he sent me the raw scores so Dottie can calculate true scores lol. There aren't that many psychs in this area that do testing and the ones that do, you have to schedule a year in advance and play $2000+.
