Something is definitely going on in DS2.5's brain. He's been VERY interested in DS5.5's math, especially when DS5.5 plays Timez Attack. And I swear for the last three months he's been trying very hard to read.

So he got a special treat this morning and was able to watch Thomas on Demand. As an intro they usually run a sponsor ad. This on featured those "Talk to Chuck" ads from Charles Schwab. He turned to mommy and said look mommy, "Truck. It says Truck". So close! He so wants to be able to read!

Have you checked out www.headsprout.com ? (first few lessons are free) My dd did this at age 2. She couldn't work the mouse, so I would sit her on my desk and she would point to the answer and I would click it. It gave her enough phonics in the first few lesson that she began reading well and was no longer interested in the program. She wanted to read books on her own.

This is the program DD6 used last summer because she didn't get phonics AT ALL! It worked great.....for reading. It appears she doesn't make the same connection writing, which I don't quite understand.

My younger dd used it also. She did more of the program and reads above grade level, but she has a great deal of issues with writing. I really can't make a connection with the program and dd's issues.
