I was going to start this thread because I thought this is a fun question! (Then I saw this one)

DS8 will be a private eye, he's got a hat he uses for everything from Indiana Jones to Ben Franklin costumes. It's a great felt fedora (I guess that's the style) but it will mold to lots of other shapes and then just pops back to the original shape.
He'll wear a suit so he should look pretty sharp.

DD2.5 was pretty adamant about what she did and did not want; DS has always been that way too. She loves trucks, cars, etc., so she wants to be the guy from the cars movie. I looked at the prices for a pre-made costume and was like, NO WAY ($60!!).
So, yesterday in a scramble to prepare for a birthday/halloween party this afternoon I came home and whipped up what I would say is a pretty crafty car for her to wear. It even looks like the one in the movie and she is totally stoked! She's even being gentle with it so far, which is definitely not her strong suite.

    Happy Halloween!

Had to revisit this thread, since DS4 wanted a second costume because he has more than one event. His second costume: a goon he created in lego wii batman's experiment lab... it was actually very easy to make (much easier than the pine tree), so we're all set now! I guess we've now officially entered the video game themed costumes phase...

That is so funny DS7 was supermario last year, but he said he had to have red overall and a white shirt... some sort of special mario thing, it was killer to find red overalls in his size, but we did!

This year he is sonic, we got a mask from ebay, I think tht they are not selling it in this country so they came from japan? but i am not sure about that... I looked for a whole costume but they were expensive.

I got him a blue shirt and made a tan felt piece for the stomach, he is sonic from the waist up.....lol

The super fun thing we are doing though is building a skeleton model today before trick or treat!

DS 9 wanted to be a cat. Not a black cat. A tiger striped orange and brown cat like one of his favorite characters from the Warriors Cat books..

Have any of you looked a cat costumes lately? They seem to be very gender specific to girls. Add to that I am NOT artistic (I could have handled a black cat) and it was a stressful week or so. Fortunately, I found all the pieces to a leopard custume that his grandmother made him 2 years ago and it fit! It wasn't exactly what he wanted but it works close enough smile

Thank the powers that be for Grandmothers that make everything big enough to grow into smile I had started using a sweat suit and cutting out strips of felt to make a tiger strip pattern. It wasn't looking good...

A Happy and Safe Halloween to all smile

Hi! (I'm new, and will introduce myself in the appropriate place later, but I can never resist a good Hallowe'en topic!) My 3 boys (7, 5, 3) love Hallowe'en, and spend a long time every year chewing over possibilities for costumes (though I ask them to decide in good enough time for me to fire up the sewing machine). They also love doing things as a trio: two years ago, they were the three musketeers, last year, they were the Marx Bros., and this year, they're going as Rock, Paper and Scissors!

    Have fun out there tonight!

    welcome minniemarx! Rock/paper/scissors - hilarious!

Another aside: I just dropped off my little pine tree at preschool (he changed his mind about his videogame character he created, because he'd have to explain it). I told him they'd be visiting the senior center for trick or treating, and briefly explained what the senior center was. He kind of got a smirk, and said, "why do they put all the old people togther in one place?" I told him those old people can be sneaky; you have to keep an eye on 'em....
