My vote is for the International Spy Museum www.spymuseum.org

This private museum has a very definite Cold War point of view. And it has a lot of fun activities: take on a cover identity, tunnel across the museum, etc. And they have special events like scavenger hunts, sleepovers, and spy workshops!

The spy museum sounds good for my ds8; I was thinking of the construction vehicles for my dd2.5, who is *freaked* about big machines.
Thanks for the tip on the spy museum, I had heard of it, but somehow imagined it for an older audience.

ps, just noticed your location - is that a dream location, or are you really there?? (pretty far from d.c.!)

We were just there this weekend, and DS8 did not like it (I did - DS and DH had to wait for me and I didn't get a chance to see/read everything). I think for the most part, the exhibits required too much reading, or he just wasn't interested. If your children are older than 12, they have a separate spy experience which sounds exciting.

NB - they require tickets for admission within the hour you reserve. You can order your tickets online and specify your time of admission. Have fun!

DS loved the spy museum We went when he was 11 and he was in heaven. He was into everything "spy" at the time so it was perfect for him. We spent two hours in the museum and then probably another 2 hours at the gift shop.

They have an excellent gift shop - a bunch of books I'd like to read. Anyone for a spy book club? LOL!

I don't know about a book club, but I'd be up for some decoder rings!

Yup, we're out here in the middle of the Pacific. Dream location? Well the beaches are pretty nice.

We have visited DC a number of times. And have really enjoyed it.

Google Earth is too cool.

Air and Space Museum.

Smithsonian.

National Art Gallery.

Those three take two days each and then the week is gone!!!

My tastes are different than Austin's. We prefer the Freer and and the Sackler and then our next favorite is the Natural History. I don't like crowds so I tend to avoid the Air and Space, except to watch a movie or two.
