    Hi All,

my son was recently tested at school in 3rd grade as his teacher recommended the testing. He took OLSAT last year in 2nd grade and was placed in gifted classes which is once a week. His scores didn't qualify him for the Mentally Gifted program: Vocab 124,Math 129.
Here is my concern.DS is an avid reader,he completed Harry potter series three times in 2nd grade. He loves to read.He is a very quick learner and very patient and mature for his age.He has always been great at math doing most of his problems verbally. My concern is that he is getting too complacent and loosing interest in studies.I was hoping with this test that he will get more challenging assignments,if get selected.
At this point I feel unsure which way to approach.we have a meeting w/ school psychologist next week.
    Thanks so much for reading.

    Welcome!

Your son sounds like a bright young person. I would encourage you, first, to enjoy these delightful years! Secondly, school-based GT programming is not the only (or even necessarily the best) way to meet the needs of advanced learners. You will find, I think, that the community here has found levels of success with many different approaches in and outside of the formal school setting.

If you don't mind telling us a bit more about his interests and passions, perhaps we can offer some more specific suggestions.
