Do you think I'm at the stage that I SHOULD be taking DS4 to a pediatric neurologist or neuropsychologist? That seems premature to me, but maybe that's just because I don't want to be "there, there'd" again, only at a much higher level of expertise.

However, come to think of it, I do have a friend with an HG (I think) child who is a pediatric neuropsychologist. Maybe I could beg a favor...Hmmm...

Just check out covd.org and put in your zip code and a specialist will be found in your area! I don't know their exact titles but these are the guys that specialize in the type of visual problems my DS and 'Neato's DD have.

Yes, I have done that and left a message with one near me. No call back yet.

Sorry, I was proposing it if you DIDN'T want to go to a developmental optometrist.

Glad to hear, the dr. we used was very receptive to listening to the WHOLE story about C-dog. I really like her, she's fantastic.

I'll wish for you the same I was wishing for us: No vision issue, DS4 doesn't dig reading and will rocket when he's ready. I am, however, grateful we found out at age 6 as opposed to age 16. smile

Well, DS4 now has an appointment with an optometrist from covd.org. The receptionist was very reassuring, even as I shared my whole, "Really, I'm not a crazy mom!" story. She actually said, "Moms usually know" and "4 is the right age to do this, so you're right on schedule."

    Whew!

So I'm feeling better. If the vision stuff comes back clean, I may chat up my friend the pediatric neuropsychologist, who knows DS4, just to see what he thinks. I'm certainly NOT looking for a diagnosis. "All's well" would be my ideal! But I just can't shake the feeling that something might be up.

Well I'll again wish for you that it a rule out. I did feel bad for C-dog, but I'm pretty sure it's a mild problem that can successfully be addressed, I'll know more when I get the report.

I think it doesn't become an academic hinderence unless it goes by unaddressed, KWIM?

I think that is a good plan.

I am no help with this issue, but I am glad DS4 has an appointment with a specialist. Either there is no problem and it's one less thing to worry about or there is a problem and you caught it early enough. It's a win-win situation.
