Her scores weren't within the ranges (FSIQ 135, VCI 142, PRI 121, WMI 116, PSI 126), but after emailing and asking if I should bother applying I was encouraged to do so. I wanted to post so that anyone searching these forums (like I did!) might see and apply to the Davidson Young Scholars program anyway

Congratulations, I'm glad you decided to apply. Did you include supplemental info?
Also, anyone know how many active DYS kids there are in all? Not including the kids that have aged out of the program. It use to be in the Davidson public database on their old website. Now I can't find those numbers anywhere. I do recall it was between 3000-4000, if I remember correctly.

As compared with the Full Scale IQ (FSIQ), GAI places less emphasis on working memory and processing speed.

Merlin, I did proivde writing and math samples, though as a relaxed homeschooling family it's difficult to gauge what "grade levels" she's functioning at.
Indigo, our DIY calculating her GAI still puts it under the minimums at 138. Maybe it was the work samples, psychologist's written report, and the personal recommendation? I'm surprised at her admittance! I think I'm still in denial about her giftedness, haha.

First, Congrats! It could be that her VCI is just a few points shy from the minimum requirement of 145 (looks like she took the WISC-IV) and you've also provided great supplemental document. Nonetheless, she's been accepted and you need to accept her giftedness

Thank you for posting this. I have also been hesitating to apply for my son. My son's WISC-V numbers are pretty similar as your daughter's but more spread/variation/asynchrony. Highest index 146, lowest index 100, GAI 141, and the tester commented that my son had correct answers outside the scorable time but was not willing (or able?) to write a letter to that effect. Your post is a kick in the pants to apply - worst they can say is "no", right?
Congratulations for your daughter! And kudos to you for exploring and following through to find the available resources!! 💖

frannieandejsmom, did you get raw scores, and if so, have you looked to see if extended norms apply on the FR subtest?
